We are experienced, committed individuals who know and love this land, including former and current residents and many allies from around the state: teachers and lawyers, builders and biologists, farmers and doctors, activists and artists.
Join with us! Current volunteer opportunities include:
- Help Fun-raise! We are laying the foundation for building long-term financial security, starting of course with the acquisition of the land. During 2005, our finance and fundraising groups will be building the income streams and lending necessary to close on our contract with the owners. We need your help on this exciting and comprehensive strategy for growth! Some areas to plug in are: our neighborhood canvassing group, calling businesses for donations, researching and writing grants, working on our big art auction later this year, sending letters to your friends and family who might be interested in supporting this project, helping to organize and find donations for an auction.....and any other creative ideas!
- Crafty, artistic help: We need someone to paint signs! We're making a large welcome sign for the two entrances to the land as well as a large image of a tree that will serve as a thermometer showing our fundraising progress. We also need to make the fancy, intriguing welcome sign as well as posters arond town. So if you've ever wanted to paint and create let us know!
- Office organizers: A whole crew of office organizers are needed as we renovate our office space to make way for the demanding life of non-profit work. We have files or organize, furniture to construct, chalk board paint to coat the walls, calendars to hang, photo albums to organize. Fun times for all.
- Publicize! Get out the word! We need people to put up posters and flyers for the equinox benefit. (you can find it online at http://www.tryonfarm.org) If you know of organizations or church groups in the area who would be interested in our story, let us know!

(A great variety of people participate in our work, in many ways. At the moment we are asking as many of them as possible to send in short bios, so that visitors to the site can get a feel for who we are. If you'd like your name here, please email us at farm@truffula.net.)
